How the scan works

Three steps. No spreadsheet.

  1. 1
    Connect a bank
Read-only via Plaid — we can see transactions, never move money or store your bank password.
  2. 2
We scan 90 days of transactions
Automatically, the moment your account links — no upload, no manual entry.
  3. 3
See every recurring charge in one list
What it costs, when it renews, and which ones are worth a second look.

Features

Everything you need.
Nothing you don't.

One plan. Every feature. No tiers, no asterisks, no upsells.

Connect Every Account

Link 12,000+ banks via Plaid — checking, savings, credit cards, investments, loans. All in one secure place.

Deep Trend Analytics

Net worth, cash flow, category breakdowns, top merchants, savings rate — zoomable, filterable, exportable.

Subscription Tracker

Auto-detects every recurring charge with monthly cost, next charge dates, and cancellation suggestions — it routinely finds a forgotten subscription that pays for Tally Finance several times over.

AI Financial Insights

Weekly summaries, anomaly detection, savings tips, and a Q&A chat — all AI-powered.

Category, 50/30/20 & Pay Period Budgets

Set category budgets with month-by-month history, check your split against the 50/30/20 rule, or switch to pay period budgeting to see exactly what's safe to spend before your next paycheck.

Export Everything

CSV or PDF reports for any date range. Perfect for taxes, accountants, or your own records.

Product tour

See exactly what you get.

Real product screens using clearly labeled sample data — not hand-drawn mockups. Every feature is included in the $9.99/month plan.

Transactions

Every transaction, auto-categorized.

Tally imports and categorizes every charge as it lands. Manually re-categorize one merchant and the same name across allyour accounts inherits it forever — so the same Starbucks doesn't end up under three different categories.

  • Inline category pills with color and icon
  • Search across merchants, descriptions, notes
  • CSV import for accounts we don’t reach via Plaid

Subscription Detector

Catch the charges you forgot you had.

We scan your last 90 days for anything that hits monthly with consistent amounts — free trials that converted, an old gym membership, a streaming tier you upgraded and forgot. You see the full list and the total in one pass.

  • Total monthly + annual cost across all subscriptions
  • Auto-flagged candidates for cancellation
  • One-click "not a subscription" dismiss that sticks
Tally Personal Finance subscriptions page — AI noticed potential savings panel + list of 7 active subscriptions with monthly costs
AI Insights

Powered by your actual numbers.

Most “AI” finance apps spit out generic tips. Tally grounds every insight in your own transaction history— so “you spent 65% over your dining budget this month” is a fact, not advice.

  • This-month summary with savings rate + biggest category
  • Action tips ranked by potential impact
  • Ask anything: "Can I afford a $400/mo car payment?"

Every upcoming bill in one view, with autopay status and exact dates. We tell you what's due in the next 7 days, what's on autopay, and what's waiting on you.

  • Mark paid in one click
  • Autopay tracking so you stop worrying about doubles
  • Smart due-soon reminders 3 days out

  • Linked accounts auto-update progress
  • Strategy notes so future-you remembers the plan
  • Combined progress across all goals at the top

Security & trust

Your money is yours.
Your data is yours.

We chose the boring, secure path on purpose. Here's exactly how.

Your data is yours. We will never sell it, show ads against it, or hand it to a lender — and no one at Tally browses your finances. It exists only to power the features you use.

That's our promise.

We never see your bank login — and we can't touch your money.

Your bank username and password go straight to Plaid and never to us. Your connection is strictly read-only — Tally can read transactions to organize and categorize them for you, but can never log in as you, move a single dollar, or transfer funds. And we never sell or share your data with anyone — no ads, no lender leads, ever.

Plaid handles bank auth
Same provider Venmo, Robinhood, and Coinbase use. We never see your bank password.
AES-256 encryption
Access tokens are encrypted at rest with a versioned key ring — rotatable without orphaning your connections.
2FA available
TOTP two-factor with recovery codes. Optional but recommended in Settings → Security.
No ads. No data selling.
You pay $9.99/month so we don’t have to monetize your transactions. Different business model on purpose.
Privacy by design

You're the customer, not the product.

Mint was “free” because Intuit sold ads and lender leads against your transaction data. It shut down anyway, because the unit economics were brutal.

We chose the opposite trade. You pay $9.99/month, and in exchange we have zero incentive to sell you a credit card, share your data, or pivot the product into something else. The subscription detector is built to help surface charges you no longer value.

That's the whole pitch.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a credit card to start?+

No. The free trial starts without a credit card. We only collect payment information when your trial ends and you choose to continue.

What happens after the trial?+

Your trial lasts 30 days. After that, you'll be billed $9.99/month or $89/year. Cancel anytime — no penalties, no fine print.

Is my financial data safe?+

Yes. We use Plaid (the industry standard) for bank linking — the same company Venmo, Robinhood, and QuickBooks use. AES-256 encryption for tokens. We never sell your data.

What if I cancel?+

Access continues until the end of your billing period. All your data is retained for 90 days so you can reactivate anytime without losing history.

How does AI Insights work?+

We analyze your transactions to surface trends, unused subscriptions, budget alerts, and savings opportunities. Insights are AI-powered — fast and private to your account.

Is there a mobile app?+

Tally works beautifully in any browser today — phone, tablet, or desktop, nothing to install. Native iOS and Android apps are on the roadmap; you can follow progress on our public roadmap page.
